This project was commitioned in Knokke, Belgium to decorate the wall and part of the floor in a privet house.
In almost all aspects of this work it was my first time working in such sizes, material and context as the house was still in the renovation process. Therefore my creative flow was constantly surrounded by house workers and all the mess that comes with it. As may main and only tool to draw to chose to use POSCA markers and with that i designed all work. The choice of the tools was very much chalangeng, as i never worked with it before and just the fact that once i put it on the wall or floor, there is no way back.
During the process i didn't had much of the style or what i will draw on the wall. I set the challenge to allow the space, wall and material tell me what has to be on it. Only thing i made, was big size composition. That was my starting point. For the rest, i surrendered to the flow of the moment.
In order to compliet the work it took me 3 weeks of work. I expected much more and i was very surprised how fast it was going.
Here is the tools i was working with: POSCA in 6 colors for the wall and 4 colors for the floor. Brilliant tool and definitely will used in much more from now on:)
To start, i made a large, original size composition sketches to feel the space and to give some idea to the client. Originally, i would go directly to the wall and would never follow the competition that i made before. But i was balancing between clients wish to know in advance what i was going to do and my way of working - just surrender to what is and enjoy the flow. And for that i am not 100 % happy with my end result.
In the very beginning, i was playing on separate wood pieces with different markers to get the feeling with materials. The test was successful from the very beginning and i choose to go with this option.
As the floor at that time was not ready for my work, we decided to start first with the wall. So i did one tryout at the kids room, just to get the feeling on markers on the wall and see how color balances.
And i started the work.

Once i started to draw directly on the wall, the possibilities and options to how and what to draw became endless.

The challenge to draw on the wooden floor had a constant surprises because of different surfaces of the wood. The wood is recycled and build from different used floors. So if i draw the line through 2 planks of wood, one can be smooth and pleasure to draw on it, and then - i get into another plank, that is ruff and has open wood structure that makes the markers scream.

At the end of the work, the drawing was double coated to make water and walk proof.
